LA NOSTRA
TERRA

“Questa terra non assomiglia a nessun altro posto. La Sardegna e’ un’altra cosa: incantevoli spazi e distanze da viaggiare, nulla di definitivo. E’ come la liberta stessa”

Cit. David Herbert Lawrence

culture and tradition

Sardinia has a rich cultural heritage that represents the expression of a fascinating past. Clothes, textiles and filigree jewellery are living testimonies of the craftsmanship handed down from generation to generation. Each country has its own model of traditional dress, which is a symbol of cultural identity. Local craftsmen, often in synergy with international designers, create unique products such as woven baskets, hand-woven carpets and ceramics. The museums of the region preserve artistic treasures and archaeological finds that tell the history and evolution of the island over the centuries. The visit to these museums offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the cultural roots of Sardinia or to know the twentieth century Sardinian with the works of artists who have marked its path, such as Maria Lai and Costantino Nivola.

Take a look at the tradition of clothing and textiles

Immerse yourself in a fascinating journey in the heart of Nuoro, at the Costume Museum. In this space, fans of Sardinian culture and history can explore centuries of traditions. The hotel boasts a vast collection of clothing, jewellery, textile and wood products, as well as a rich collection of jewelry and charms that embody the island’s unique craftsmanship and aesthetic. Among the traditional techniques of the Sardinian fabric, stands out the refined technique pibionis, with its characteristic motifs, together with the use of fine Sardinian wool, famous for its resistance and insulating qualities. The evocative Sardinian brocades, authentic works of textile art, capture the attention for vivid colors and refinement. A visit to the Costume Museum in Nuoro not only allows you to deepen the history and culture of Sardinia through its fabric and clothing, but also to immerse yourself in a world steeped in beauty and timeless craftsmanship tradition.

The craft industry

The journey to discover crafts continues in Calangianus, where the Cork Museum celebrates the millenary art of working this natural material, fundamental in the local economy. Still towards Sassari, the Museum of Craft and Design “Eugenio Tavolara”, created by Ubaldo Badas in neoliberty style, offers, through events and exhibitions, an in-depth look at the island’s artisanal wealth, with a particular emphasis on art and design. We can not forget the handicraft productions of the villages, such as the ceramics of Oristano (the most active center), Assemini, Villaputzu, Dorgali, and the precious woven baskets, witnesses of the skill in processing wheat straw, asfodelo and reed. In Ollolai, the Historical Exhibition of S’Iscrarionzu illustrates this ancient activity. Discover and experience the authenticity and beauty of Sardinian craftsmanship, where local raw materials are transformed into timeless works of art.

Museums a few kilometers from our facilities

The Sea Museum and the Stazzo Museum offer an exciting immersion in the cultural heritage of Sardinia. In the heart of the town of San Teodoro, the exhibition presents fascinating archaeological finds from an area steeped in history. Crossing a few kilometers, in the picturesque town of Budoni, you will find the picturesque Stazzo Museum. Here, visitors can admire the daily tools of the farmers who lived in the stazzi, the typical rural houses of Gallura, still present in small country villages.

architectural gems

The local architecture, with its pastel tones and sumptuous villas overlooking the sea, blends harmoniously with the green of the lush Mediterranean scrub, creating a postcard atmosphere that characterizes Porto Cervo and the entire Costa Smeralda. Also worth mentioning is the architectural masterpiece of the Church of Stella Maris, designed by the acclaimed Michele Busiri Vici in the 1960s. With its cone-shaped bell tower and simple interiors enriched by works of art, including the evocative painting by El Greco “Mater Dolorosa”, this church is an icon of modern architecture, further enriching the cultural landscape of this fascinating region.

Life in Sardinia is perhaps the best a man can hope for: twenty-four thousand kilometers of forests, countryside, and coastline immersed in a miraculous sea should coincide with what I would advise the good Lord to give us as Paradise.” Fabrizio De André
